For those like myself who have waited for the kick-off of the world cup in Brazil, wait no more for our miracle is come. halleluyah (in Gordons' voice).
Okay seriously, the World Cup will commence today with the host Brazil taking on Croatia at the the newly-erected Arena de Sao Paulo stadium.
However, the 25-minute opening ceremony which i'm really interested in will feature more than 600 artists, including acrobatic gymnasts, trampolinists, marshal arts-style capoeira performers and stilt walkers.
“The opening ceremony is a tribute to Brazil and its treasures: nature, people and football”, Belgian artistic director Daphne Cornez said in a statement.
After the performers have finished, the official song which was recorded by Jennifer Lopez, Pitbull and local Brazilian singer Claudia Leitte will combine to perform the official FIFA World Cup song titled “We Are One (Ole Ola)”.
The opening ceremony commences at 17:00GMT/10:30pm IST at the Arena Corinthians in Sao Paulo, Brazil and will end at 19:00 GMT/12:30am IST.
The match will kick off at 21.00 BST and 9pm Nigerian time. Enjoy guys!!!
